This Bridge Stretches Like a Rainbow For 32 Kilometers In The East China Sea, Setting Multiple World Records

China is a strong infrastructure country, with various major projects advancing rapidly, including many super projects and the world's largest. It can be said that in terms of engineering construction, if China ranks second, no one dares to call it first. In just 40 years of reform and opening up, China's highways, tunnels, bridges, and high-speed railways have all been at the forefront of the world. As the most important part of infrastructure, bridge construction technology has been fully utilized in China, making many foreign projects pale and out of reach.


When it comes to cross sea bridges, we are not unfamiliar with them, there are countless. 36 kilometers away from the Hangzhou Bay Cross Sea Bridge. It is close to the world-famous Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge. Although the cross sea bridge I am sharing with you today is not as long as these two bridges, it is the earliest and fastest open sea bridge in China.


This bridge is the Donghai Bridge, which connects Nanhui Xincheng Town in Pudong New Area, Shanghai with Yangshan Town in Shengsi County, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. The Donghai Bridge is also one of the key supporting projects of Yangshan Deepwater Port.


The Donghai Bridge was first built on June 26, 2002, completed structural connectivity on May 25, 2005, and completed all construction by the end of September 2005. It was officially opened for operation on December 10, 2005, with a total length of 32.5 kilometers. The main project only took 3 years. More than a decade ago, such a long bridge and such speed could be said to be the world's longest. So far, the construction speed has not been surpassed by anyone else.


The Donghai Bridge is 31.5 meters wide, with two floors and six lanes in both directions. The design speed is 80 kilometers per hour, and the entire bridge is designed according to highway standards, with a design reference period of 100 years. The largest main navigation hole of the bridge is 40 meters away from the sea, which is equivalent to a 10 story building height and can meet the navigation requirements of 10000 ton cargo ships.

The Donghai Bridge, as a supporting project of Yangshan Deepwater Port outside of Shanghai, has achieved direct access to Yangshan Deepwater Terminal at Shanghai Port and made Shanghai an international shipping center.


At the same time, the appearance of the Donghai Bridge is inspired by the Donghai Changhong, like a beautiful rainbow in the East China Sea. The color of a bridge is a direct expression of the building's appearance and a display of its personality. The bridge adopts white and light gray as the main color tones, making it harmonious with the environment. The herringbone shaped tower of the main waterway bridge is like two sea fixing needles, firmly nailed to the center of the sea. The entire bridge section is designed as an S-shaped curve.


The lighting construction of the Donghai Bridge not only meets the transportation function, but also creatively utilizes LED technology to meet the warning and landscape requirements of the bridge. The lighting and landscape come from the offshore wind farm of Donghai Bridge. At night, the entire bridge dances gracefully like a huge ribbon on the shore of the East China Sea.


With the opening of the Donghai Bridge, the Yangshan tourism project at the end of the bridge has also officially opened. Autonomous driving can directly go to Shilong Scenic Area, Yangshan Island, East China Sea, Changhong, and the coast of the East China Sea, as well as Xiaoyangshan.


Xiaoyang Mountain was developed earlier. There were residents in the Tang Dynasty. The destroyed Yangshan and the Great Emperor Hall were built in Zhenguan four years ago. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was the same barrier and coastal defense zone as Dayangshan. During the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, Zheng Chenggong and Zhang Huangyan were stationed on the island during the Northern Expedition. During the Qianjia period, the Marine Corps fought against the Fujian robber Long Meier.


In addition to its rich cultural landscape, Xiaoyang Mountain boasts unique natural stone scenery. The famous scenic spots are Shilong and Xiaoguanyin Mountain Cliff Group, and the others are sisters Stone, High Mud Strange Sand, Turtle Stone, etc. The Shilong scenic spot is located in the Dachengzi Mountain in the eastern part of the island, and is the second largest stone wonder in Shengsi.
