According to Xinhua News Agency, on December 30th, the Pingtang to Luodian Expressway in Guizhou Province was completed and opened to traffic, marking the official completion and opening of the Pingtang Extra Large Bridge as a control project for this section of the expressway. The Pingtang Extra Large Bridge has a total length of 2135 meters and a total investment of about 1.5 billion yuan. It is a three tower double cable surface composite beam cable-stayed bridge. Among them, the 16th "diamond shaped" main tower is 332 meters high, equivalent to 110 floors,

The Pingtang Extra Large Bridge in Guizhou is currently the world's tallest reinforced concrete bridge tower. After the opening of the Pingtang Grand Bridge, the travel time from Pingtang to Luodian will be reduced from 2 and a half hours to 1 hour, making it a transportation artery connecting southern Guizhou. In November 2016, the bridge was nominated for the 2016 Be Innovation Award final and was hailed by the industry as the "tallest and most beautiful" space cable tower.

After the opening of the Pingtang Grand Bridge, the travel time from Pingtang to Luodian will be reduced from 2 and a half hours to 1 hour, making it a transportation artery connecting southern Guizhou.

There are a total of 80 bridges along the Pingluo Expressway, including 3 super large bridges, and Pingtang super large bridge is among them.

Guizhou is the only province in China without plain support, separated by endless mountains. In the 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, in order to open up external connectivity channels, Guizhou's transportation builders have overcome difficulties, worked hard, and built more than 23000 highway bridges totaling 3176 kilometers. Currently, 47 out of the top 100 high bridges in the world are located in Guizhou, covering almost all types of bridges. The completion and opening of the Pingtang Grand Bridge adds a new collection to the "Bridge Museum" in Guizhou.

It is reported that driving at a speed of 80 kilometers on the bridge takes only 2 minutes to pass; It took three years from the construction of the bridge to its successful opening to traffic.

When the weather is sunny and cloudy, only the lower part of the bridge deck will be covered, and the diamond shaped main tower will stand in the clouds, so we call it the 'Bridge of the Sky' Chen Xingxiang told reporters that the bridge is known as the "highest and most beautiful" spatial cable tower by industry experts and peers, and is another landmark building in Guizhou.

At the same time, the Sky Bridge service area, which is being synchronously constructed near the bridge, highlights the concept of "bridge tourism integration". In addition to conventional gas stations, parking areas, and supermarkets, it also includes the construction of bridge museums and observation hotels, exploring the transformation of the highway from a single travel function to a composite function of transportation, ecology, tourism, consumption, and other functions.

It is reported that after the opening of the Pingluo Expressway, the travel time from Pingtang to Luodian has been reduced from 2.5 hours to about 1 hour.

Long Pingjiang, a member of the Party Committee of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Transportation, stated that after the opening of the Pingluo Expressway, it will form a horizontal transportation corridor connecting the southern region of Guizhou, which will have a positive promoting effect on improving the production and living conditions of the people along the line and promoting regional economic and social development.
